was born in St Raphael, France in 1928. He studied at the Edinburgh College of Art from 1946 to 1947 and 1949 to 1953. He was Lecturer at the Edinburgh College of Art and Gray's School of Art Aberdeen. In 1961 he returned to Edinburgh College of Art and from 1982 until his retirement in 1990 was Head of the School of Painting and Drawing there. In 1992 he was Visiting Professor at the University of California at Santa Barbara. David Michie is a Member of the Royal Scottish Academy, a Member of the Royal Glasgow Institute, Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, and a Member of the West of England Academy. He was awarded the O.B.E in 1997. David Michie has had 10 Solo Exhibitions with Mercury Gallery since 1966. |
